These days, we're trying to balance all types of wellness. From our exercise habits to our boundaries to our mindset, we're growing in our understanding - and focus - on the routines that can help us feel better.

One area that doesn't get as much love (yet!) is financial wellness. So what is it and why is it important?

What is financial wellness?

One of the key principles of wellness is that everyone should be able to define it for themselves. If you asked us, here's what we'd say:

financial wellness - the pursuit of money habits and mindset shifts that build your confidence and put you in a more comfortable financial position

The way you manifest financial wellness in your own life should be personalized to you.

Why is financial wellness important?

Like any sphere of wellness, the goal of financial wellness is to take care of yourself.

Focusing on your financial wellness gives you a greater sense of control of your money and helps you make more intentional, values-aligned decisions about how you use it.

Whether we like it or not, our finances have a major impact on our lives. In our latest survey, 57% of respondents told us that their financial situation was impacting their mental health.

How to improve your financial wellness

The first step in improving your financial wellness is to assess your current state. Ask yourself:

  • How do I feel when I think about my financial situation?

  • Do my money habits align with my values?

  • What role do I want money to play in my life?

Then, start with small changes that help you spend more mindfully,  prioritize how you spend your time, and reduce money stress.

Apps to improve financial wellness

Using an app can be a helpful way to kickstart your financial wellness journey.

Apps like enough help you reflect on your purchase decisions, measure your financial position, and build habits that will serve you for a lifetime.

After using the enough financial wellness app for a few weeks, you'll be better at making purchases you feel good about, finding gratitude for the things you have, and making faster progress on getting out of debt.

Financial wellness in 2026

In many ways, this is a tough time for financial wellness. We see more advertising than ever. Inflation makes covering your basic needs more challenging.

The good news is that we also have more tools and access to information than ever. If financial wellness is important to you, this is a great time to get started. It's never too late!
